Alejandro Alva, MD, is the founder, chief medical officer, and CEO of Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS). He sees psychiatric patients of all ages at the practice’s three offices in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Huntington Beach, California, with a focus on substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment and general psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Alva earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and completed medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. He then returned to California, where he completed his psychiatric residency at the University of California, Irvine.
To keep up with the latest advancements in psychiatric care, Dr. Alva maintains active membership in a number of professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the California Psychiatric Association, as well as multiple others.
He is also a member of several specialty organizations and boards, including the American Board of Forensic Medicine, the American College of Forensic Examiners, and the American Board of Psychopharmacology.
Like most of the PNS staff, Dr. Alva is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish, and bicultural. He believes that it is his duty to reach out to the Latino community as well as the general community. To help him understand the mental health barriers facing different ethnic populations, Dr. Alva is active in the California Hispanic American Medical Association and the American Association of Hispanic Professionals.

Sheena Patel, PA-C, is a nationally board-certified physician assistant at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS). She treats psychiatric patients at the practice’s three offices in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Huntington Beach, California.
While earning her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Sheena concurrently performed four years of academic research at UCI related to addiction and drug abuse and their effects on the brain. She then earned a master’s degree in biological sciences at New York University in New York City.
Sheena completed her physician assistant training at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. After becoming board-certified in 2010, she worked in internal medicine, pain management, and subspecialty surgery (urology, vascular, ENT, and plastic surgery) before joining the psychiatry clinical staff at PNS.
Although she is trained to treat patients with a variety of general disorders, Sheena’s primary interests are psychosocial medicine and addiction disorders. She is a National Certified Speaker for pharmaceutical medications.
Ms. Patel offers Psychiatry in both English and Gujarati. She works in all mental health patients and is trained in Addiction Medicine, Anxiety, ADD ADHD, Depression, Dementia, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Child Psychiatry.
Jennifer Sebastian, PA-C, is a nationally board-certified physician assistant at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS). Before gaining important clinical experience in psychiatry and addiction, Ms. Sebastian (called Jen by her patients) also worked as a PA in orthopedics and urgent care.
Jen earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine and then studied nuclear imaging at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. She completed the physician assistant training program at Riverside Community College in Riverside, California, and then earned a master’s degree in medical science from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
Because she understands that the field of psychiatry requires a special kind of medical practitioner, Jen strives to provide personalized care to her patients, with a goal of giving each patient a better understanding and peace of mind. She maintains active memberships in both the American Association of Physician Assistants and the California Association of Physician Assistants.
Jen works with many females who seek psychiatrist to deal with generalized anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, ADD ADHD, and being a mom herself - women's mental health and child psychiatry.
Alex Mulé, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant on the team at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists. He treats patients at the practice’s offices in Orange and Costa Mesa, California.
Alex graduated from Chapman University in Orange, California, with a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology and a Master of Science in health and strategic communication. During his time at Chapman, he earned four All-American titles in NCAA water polo, becoming the first student at the university to accomplish this in any sport.
After Chapman, Alex went on to Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California, where he earned a Master of Medical Science degree.
In his work at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists, Alex helps to interview, assess, and develop treatment plans for patients. He collaborates with Alejandro Alva, MD, and other providers to prescribe and manage medications, and performs various minor medical procedures like injections and blood draws.
Alex is EMT-B, first-aid, and CPR certified. He enjoys working directly with patients and brings a strong sense of compassion and empathy to his work. He looks forward to helping his patients walk down the road to recovery.

Sarah Kantelis, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant and a dedicated member of the team of providers at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists. She works with patients at the practice’s location in Orange, California.
Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Science in child life from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, after which she spent years working as a child life specialist at hospitals in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Roanoke, Virginia.
She went back to school in Pomona, California, graduating from Western University of Health Sciences with a master’s in physician assistant studies. As a physician assistant, she’s worked in urgent care, critical care, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine.
In addition to her board certification as a physician assistant, Sarah is also certified in basic life support, advanced cardiovascular life support, and controlled substances education. She’s a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and an associate member of the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
When she’s not working, Sarah is passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community. She frequently participates in various health fairs, where she lends her skills and expertise to educate the public on various health concerns and practices.
Sarah, as you can see, is an expert when it comes to child psychiatry, she also works with autism, ADD ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, adolescent psychiatry, insomnia, women's mental health, and anxiety.
Brandon Stutz is a board-certified physician assistant who works for Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists at the Orange and Huntington Beach locations. Having worked with patients of all ages, Brandon provides care and treatment for adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Brandon is a Southern California native, and finds great pleasure in providing psychiatric services for his community.
Brandon attended San Diego State University where he earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology with a minor in biology. He then worked as a medical scribe for 3 years in 4 separate emergency rooms before attending California Baptist University where he obtained his master of science in physician assistant studies. Brandon is also an active member of the California Association of Physician Assistants and American Association of Physician Assistants.

Yvette earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach, and an associate’s degree in nursing from Cerritos Community College in Cerritos, California. She then earned a master’s degree in nursing, with an emphasis on family practice, from California State University, Long Beach.
Before joining the PNS staff in 2013, Yvette worked in a number of other specialized medical settings, including telemetry, oncology, surgery, home health, and hospice. She also worked for three years as an infusion nurse for ATP Clinical Research.
Yvette holds multiple certifications, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale, Basic Life Support, and Clinical Dementia Rating Scale. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a clinical instructor, lending her experience and expertise to students in the nursing program at Cerritos Community College.
