Alejandro Alva, MD, is Founder and CEO of Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS) and a pioneer in TMS treatment, psychotherapy, clinical testing, addiction, and mental health. He works as a psychiatrist and mental health provider for children, adults, and seniors.
Dr. Alva earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and completed medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico, where he serves as a visiting professor of Psychiatry. He returned to California to complete his psychiatric residency at the University of California, Irvine, and went on to serve as Associate Professor in UC Irvine’s Department of Psychiatry and Assistant Professor at UC Riverside Medical School’s Department of Neuroscience. He is also a member of the New York Academy of Science.
To keep up with the latest advancements in psychiatric care, Dr. Alva maintains active membership in a number of professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the California Psychiatric Association, among others. He has been featured in numerous media outlets and has served as an expert guest in various television programs. He is also a member of several specialty organizations and boards, including the American Board of Forensic Medicine, the American College of Forensic Examiners, and the American Board of Psychopharmacology.
Dr. Alva is bilingual and bicultural, speaking English and Spanish. He believes it is his duty to reach out to the Latino community as well as the general community, and is active in the California Hispanic American Medical Association and the American Association of Hispanic Professionals to help him understand the mental health barriers facing different ethnic populations.
Dr. Alva is exceptionally gifted when working with PTSD, ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, men’s health, psychotherapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and is routinely recognized as one of the top psychiatrists in the country.
